The edges of the glass tape were sanded, the hull faired with epoxy mixed with micro balloons and then coated in epoxy. Imperfections which are very difficult to see or feel become more noticeable once the gloss topcoat is applied.

5 coats of varnish were applied to the hardwood. Once the varnish was dry the edges of the hardwood were covered in masking tape. Cheap foam rollers from the pound shop were used to apply 2 coats of undercoat. They were just about up to the job but I would not use them for topcoat.

2 coats of topcoat were applied using a roller. The paint was not layed off with a paintbrush but left with the slight "orange peel" pattern from the roller, this was because the hull was not perfectly smooth and the gloss topcoat highlights any imperfections.

The second coat was applied on a hot day, the paint dried quickly and I had to work fast to keep a wet edge to the painted surface. The results are good but not perfect.

The hardwood coaming has been fitted to the foredeck. All surfaces have been sanded, faired and coated in epoxy.
